[Verse 1]
Heaven and Earth shall pass away,
Yet God's own word shall ever stay;
The promise of the Lord is sure,
Unfailing, steadfast, strong, and pure.
Will He deny what He has said?
Will He not give His children bread?
Whatever He has pledged in grace,
He shall fulfil in every case.
[Chorus]
The promise of the Father stands,
Secure within His mighty hands;
Though heaven and Earth should fade away,
His word shall live from day to day.
Trust in the Lord, His truth adore,
His covenant shall stand forever.
What He has spoken shall be done,
For faithful is the Holy One.
[Verse 2]
Why measure God with earthly scale,
When human wisdom soon must fail?
The things of God are deep and high,
Far from the proud and carnal eye.
His holy word and promise are sure
Are for the wise, the hearts made pure;
The wisdom from above is bright,
And leads the soul in truth and light.
[Chorus]
The promise of the Father stands,
Secure within His mighty hands;
Though heaven and Earth should fade away,
His word shall live from day to day.
Trust in the Lord, His truth adore,
His covenant shall stand forever.
What He has spoken shall be done,
For faithful is the Holy One.
[Verse 3]
This vast and wondrous world we see
It is held by heaven's great mystery;
Though countless stars and planets shine,
They move according to design.
If all were made by His command,
Who then can stay His mighty hand?
The Lord is all-sufficient still,
And none can hinder His great will.
[Chorus]
The promise of the Father stands,
Secure within His mighty hands;
Though heaven and Earth should fade away,
His word shall live from day to day.
Trust in the Lord, His truth adore,
His covenant shall stand forever.
What He has spoken shall be done,
For faithful is the Holy One.
[Verse 4]
Yet if the thing for which you cry
Would bring your soul to ruin nigh,
The Father in His perfect love
Withholds that gift from heaven above.
Would loving parents gladly place
A deadly thing before a face?
So does the Father guard His own,
Though He remains unseen, unknown.
[Chorus]
The promise of the Father stands,
Secure within His mighty hands;
Though heaven and Earth should fade away,
His word shall live from day to day.
Trust in the Lord, His truth adore,
His covenant shall stand forever.
What He has spoken shall be done,
For faithful is the Holy One.
[Verse 5]
Then live in God from day to day,
And feed upon His word alway;
Abide in Him with a heart sincere,
And cast aside all doubt and fear.
Forget the noise of Earth below,
And let His holy presence glow;
Sooner or later, you shall see
His glory shines abundantly.
[Final Chorus]
The promise of the Father stands,
Secure within His mighty hands;
Though heaven and Earth should fade away,
His word shall live from day to day.
Trust in the Lord, His truth adore,
His covenant shall stand forever.
What He has spoken shall be done,
For faithful is the Holy One.
