The Chain Must End In Christ

(Thursday, 2nd April 2026)

[Verse 1]
Whatever wrong has marked a life,
And bound the past to years ahead,
Will surely rise again in time,
Except its power be counted dead.
Thus many walk the selfsame path,
And fall where others fell before;
What started once in one man's life
Returns with sorrow more and more.

[Chorus]
Let every chain be broken now,
And end within our days;
What plagued the fathers long ago,
Shall not pass on always.
In Christ, the curse shall lose its power,
Its strength shall be undone;
The pit we saw in former years
Shall trap no more our sons.

[Verse 2]
Some marry many times in grief,
Yet never pause to seek the cause;
The hidden chain remains unbroken,
Still working by unholy laws.
And if such evil is not checked,
It travels through the household line.
From sire to child the burden runs,
Unless the Father's light shall shine.

[Chorus]
Let every chain be broken now,
And end within our days;
What plagued the fathers long ago,
Shall not pass on always.
In Christ, the curse shall lose its power,
Its strength shall be undone;
The pit we saw in former years
Shall trap no more our sons.

[Verse 3]
When Jacob's sons dishonoured him,
His anger flamed before his end.
He spoke in grief and laid a word
That sorrow could not rightly mend.
Yet oft the fathers sow themselves
The seeds their children later reap;
The Father wills such works should end,
And not through generations creep.

[Chorus]
Let every chain be broken now,
And end within our days;
What plagued the fathers long ago,
Shall not pass on always.
In Christ, the curse shall lose its power,
Its strength shall be undone;
The pit we saw in former years
Shall trap no more our sons.

[Verse 4]
He calls us all to think aright,
To search, to stand, to make things plain,
That none who come behind our days
Should bear our errors, wounds, and pain.
For as through Adam, death came down,
And hardship spread through all the earth,
So life through Christ, our Saviour, came,
And gave the fallen spirit birth.

[Chorus]
Let every chain be broken now,
And end within our days;
What plagued the fathers long ago,
Shall not pass on always.
In Christ, the curse shall lose its power,
Its strength shall be undone;
The pit we saw in former years
Shall trap no more our sons.

[Verse 5]
The Lord in holy jealousy
Declared His word in days of old:
That sins of those who hated Him
Would mark the children, as foretold.
Yet still in Ezekiel, He spoke,
And made His righteous judgement known:
"The soul that sins, it shall die";
Each soul to Him is His alone.

[Chorus]
Let every chain be broken now,
And end within our days;
What plagued the fathers long ago,
Shall not pass on always.
In Christ, the curse shall lose its power,
Its strength shall be undone;
The pit we saw in former years
Shall trap no more our sons.

[Verse 6]
Therefore, it is a shameful thing
To fall again in selfsame snare;
A greater shame when children fall
Into the traps their fathers bear.
In this our age of light and truth,
Of wisdom spread on every hand,
We have the living Word each day
To help us flee the foe's command.

[Chorus]
Let every chain be broken now,
And end within our days;
What plagued the fathers long ago,
Shall not pass on always.
In Christ, the curse shall lose its power,
Its strength shall be undone;
The pit we saw in former years
Shall trap no more our sons.

[Final Chorus]
Let every chain be broken now,
And end within our days;
What plagued the fathers long ago,
Shall not pass on always.
In Christ, the curse shall lose its power,
Its strength shall be undone;
The pit we saw in former years
Shall trap no more our sons.
