[Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.

[Verse 1]
How great the Father's patience now,
More than the former days of old;
Through Christ He bears with sinful men,
Yet still His righteous laws stand firm.

[Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.

[Verse 2]
Though He is silent many times,
His hosts still carry out His will;
When men depart from holy ways,
His armies answer Heaven's call.

[Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.

[Verse 3]
The child whom God no longer corrects
Should fear the path that lies ahead;
For whom the Father truly loves,
He disciplines and gently leads.

[Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.

[Verse 4]
No hidden thing escapes His sight,
No secret spirit can remain;
He searches every inward part
And weighs the depths of every soul.

[Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.

[Verse 5]
"Truth in the inward parts," He says;
Deep holiness He still requires;
Until His light renews the heart,
No man can claim the Father's name.

[Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.

[Verse 6]
If Satan sought the Holy Child
Through those surrounding Mary's womb,
Then none should think himself secure,
For every soul must watch and pray.

[Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.

[Verse 7]
The Father's wisdom orders all;
His ways are higher than our own.
The wise will hear and understand,
The foolish choose their own decline.

[Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.

[Verse 8]
Yet thanks be to our gracious God,
Who has prepared our home above;
When earthly trials pass away,
In Heaven we shall dwell in peace.

[Final Chorus]
O search my heart, Almighty Lord,
Let truth within my soul abide;
Chastise me in Your perfect love,
And keep me ever by Your side.
