O Father, Wake Thy Sleeping Church

(Sunday, 3rd May 2026)

[Verse 1]
Gather the shepherds of the flock,
The workers gathered in Thy Name;
Let every heart before Thee speak,
And truth expose the hidden shame.
For many bear the Christian name,
Yet live without the inward flame;
Their lips confess the Lord above,
But hearts are far from holy love.

[Chorus]
O Father, wake Thy sleeping Church,
And turn our hearts from sin and shame;
Let truth arise, let souls return,
And glorify Thy holy Name.
O Lord, before the trumpet sounds,
Make us in Christ completely new;
That when we leave this passing world,
We may be found in Heaven with You.

[Verse 2]
Day after day Jehovah mourns,
As souls depart and miss the gate;
Yet few will hear the faithful word,
And few will flee their sinful state.
If truth is silent, none will hear;
If none will hear, none will amend;
And if the sinner will not turn,
Hellfire shall be his bitter end.

[Chorus]
O Father, wake Thy sleeping Church,
And turn our hearts from sin and shame;
Let truth arise, let souls return,
And glorify Thy holy Name.
O Lord, before the trumpet sounds,
Make us in Christ completely new;
That when we leave this passing world,
We may be found in Heaven with You.

[Verse 3]
The enemy labours night and day
To rob Thy children of their crown;
He blinds the hearts that should discern,
And pulls the careless spirit down.
Thou sendest voices from afar,
From many lands, from death's domain;
Yet hardened hearts refuse to hear,
And count Thy warning words as vain.

[Chorus]
O Father, wake Thy sleeping Church,
And turn our hearts from sin and shame;
Let truth arise, let souls return,
And glorify Thy holy Name.
O Lord, before the trumpet sounds,
Make us in Christ completely new;
That when we leave this passing world,
We may be found in Heaven with You.

[Verse 4]
It is not enough to join the crowd,
Nor stand where multitudes are found;
A soul must die with Christ the Lord,
Before his life is Heaven-bound.
Till self is nailed upon the cross,
Till sin and pride are cast away,
The name of Christian is but sound,
Without the life, the truth, the way.

[Chorus]
O Father, wake Thy sleeping Church,
And turn our hearts from sin and shame;
Let truth arise, let souls return,
And glorify Thy holy Name.
O Lord, before the trumpet sounds,
Make us in Christ completely new;
That when we leave this passing world,
We may be found in Heaven with You.

[Verse 5]
The Church is full of snares and lies,
Where Satan's servants hide within;
They dress the world in holy robes,
And lead the weak through paths of sin.
They bring strange feasts before Thy house,
And teach the flock what Thou dost hate;
The blind receive their words with joy,
And walk unknowing to the gate.

[Chorus]
O Father, wake Thy sleeping Church,
And turn our hearts from sin and shame;
Let truth arise, let souls return,
And glorify Thy holy Name.
O Lord, before the trumpet sounds,
Make us in Christ completely new;
That when we leave this passing world,
We may be found in Heaven with You.

[Verse 6]
Yet in the midst of evil men,
A remnant still belongs to Thee;
Though they are blind in many things,
Their hands are clean from wickedness.
Guide them, O Father, in Thy love,
And save them by Thy mighty hand;
Bring them from darkness into light,
And make them in Thy truth to stand.

[Chorus]
O Father, wake Thy sleeping Church,
And turn our hearts from sin and shame;
Let truth arise, let souls return,
And glorify Thy holy Name.
O Lord, before the trumpet sounds,
Make us in Christ completely new;
That when we leave this passing world,
We may be found in Heaven with You.

[Verse 7]
If we have freedom now to hear
The truth without deceit or fear,
Then let us thank the Father well,
And hold His holy counsel dear.
Teach us to value grace today,
And walk in all Thy perfect will;
That when our earthly race is done,
We shall be Thine, and Heaven fill.

[Final Chorus]
O Father, wake Thy sleeping Church,
And turn our hearts from sin and shame;
Let truth arise, let souls return,
And glorify Thy holy Name.
O Lord, before the trumpet sounds,
Make us in Christ completely new;
That when we leave this passing world,
We may be found in Heaven with You.
