[Verse 1]
There is no peace for wicked men,
Thus says Jehovah, Lord of all;
For those who cast His Law behind
Shall never truly stand secure,
But walk in darkness, fear, and grief.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 2]
But who indeed are called the wicked?
Those who refuse the Father's Law,
Who turn away from truth and light,
And choose the pathway of their will,
Despising all His holy ways.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 3]
And how shall men obey the Lord,
If those who lead neglect His Word?
When rulers fail to guard the truth,
And place the last before the first,
The land is filled with pain and strife.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 4]
Today, the earth is full of grief,
Because Thy statutes are ignored;
The fear of God is cast aside,
And men pursue their selfish gain,
Then wonder why their sorrows grow.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 5]
When Israel gained the promised land,
They dwelt in peace beneath Thy hand;
Because they kept Thy laws with care,
And walked before Thee faithfully,
Thou gavest rest on every side.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 6]
But when they wandered from Thy truth,
And turned aside from Thy command,
They tasted then the loss of peace,
And knew the burden of their sin,
For they had left their God behind.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 7]
Yet Thou hadst warned them long before,
Through Moses, servant of Thy will;
Again, again Thy voice was heard:
"Forget not God, who rescued thee;
Depart not from His holy path."
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 8]
For when the Father deals with man,
And draws him near with cords of love,
If such a soul should turn away,
His life on earth shall mourn in pain
Until he goeth to the grave.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 9]
If this be so with just one man,
How much more a stubborn land;
A nation that forsakes her God
Shall lose her glory, strength, and peace,
And reap the fruit of disobedience.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 10]
None can be holy as the Lord,
Not one, nor even all a land;
Yet if a few will yield themselves,
And sacrifice for truth and right,
The Father still can use their lives.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 11]
A handful who revere His name,
Whose hearts are fixed to do His will,
May be the vessels of His peace,
Through whom He heals a wounded land
And turns the people back to Him.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 12]
For where the Law of God is chief,
There peace shall flourish, truth shall reign;
But where His statutes are despised,
Confusion grows from day to day,
And righteousness is driven out.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 13]
Blessed the nation called by God,
Whom He is drawing unto Heaven;
The people there should count it grace,
For not all lands receive such love,
Nor share alike such holy call.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 14]
Some nations pass upon the earth,
And live and die in vanity;
They know not why their breath was given,
Nor seek the purpose of their God,
But perish in their empty way.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 15]
If all the world began with two,
One man and a woman by God made,
Then every nation, tribe, and tongue
Begins within the family home,
Where peace or ruin first is formed.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 16]
If every house were to fear the Lord,
And keep His precepts day by day,
No power of hell could overthrow
The people sheltered by His hand,
For He would be their shield and peace.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 17]
But far the earth has drifted now
From where the Father wills her to be;
The hearts of men are cold and proud,
And few remain who seek His face
With humble fear and trembling love.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 18]
Yet they who know the Father well,
And walk according to His Word,
Shall dwell in calm though storms may rise;
For perfect peace shall guard their souls,
And light eternal be their song.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 19]
So let us turn while yet we may,
And seek the Lord with all our heart;
Let leaders bow before His throne,
Let households honour His commands,
That peace may fill the earth again.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
[Verse 20]
Jehovah reigns, the Holy One,
Whose justice standeth ever sure;
Blessed are they who fear His name,
Who keep His Law and trust His voice,
For they shall dwell in lasting peace.
[Chorus]
O Father, let Thy peace descend,
And rule within our hearts and lands;
Establish now Thy holy Law,
That men may walk in truth and light.
O Lord our God, give us Thy peace.
